HORN
So what, exactly, is T3?
T3 is a self contained mid/high frequency horn module, designed to be used in conjunction with a variety of Vitavox bass enclosures to complete state-of-the-art 3-way full-range systems. It's a name derived from the positionally adjustable HF unit at its apex - something we call the 'Time Travelling Tweeter'.
It comprises the Vitavox R300W horn, 'S' Type pressure unit, and TR32 tweeter.
The structural foundation and aesthetic focus of the module is the R300W dispersive horn. Its massive beech laminate construction offers tremendous sonic benefits in itself, eliminating unwanted resonance, but also provides the strong and super rigid platform necessary for the coupled drive units to give their best.
Covering the critical mid-range frequencies to which our ears are most sensitive, including those defining the clarity and presence of vocal performance, is the legendary 'S' Type pressure driver, whilst above, from its beautifully integrated carriage, a TR32 compression tweeter sings the highest notes.
The tweeter unit is elevated so as to negate any undesirable reflections from the top surface of the mid-range horn, and the chassis of each driver damped to eradicate resonance. Three stainless steel point supports carry the high mass module, effectively preventing vibration breakthrough from the bass enclosure beneath.
The carriage is immensely strong, to carry the driver's substantial weight. It includes a meticulously engineered slideway, constructed from ground stainless steel and bronze, via which the position of the HF unit can be minutely and smoothly controlled. This process, analogous to pulling focus on a camera lens, allows adjustment in the relative position of the mid and high frequency wavefronts, and the driver outputs to be precisely phase aligned as they reach the ear of the listener.
More than a decade in the making, but we think the timing is perfect.
