Designed to partner the 'S' Type pressure unit, the 'TR' Type compression tweeter shares a similar design philosophy. Just like its older sibling, it incorporates a powerful AlNiCo magnet and pressure formed aluminium diaphragm, so perfectly matched sonic character and seamless integration are assured.
The driver is massively constructed. The AlcomaxIII magnet alone weighs in at more than 800g, and forms part of a beautifully engineered motor assembly which effectively controls the powerful flux. It drives an annular aluminium diaphragm via an ultra-lightweight, edge-wound, voice coil resulting in a highly accurate and distortion free response. Internally wired with high purity, oxygen free copper wire, the input signal is transferred with perfect fidelity.
A slot horn assembly, machined from solid metal billet, is fitted in front of the diaphragm to disperse the high frequencies, creating a broad and even sound field. The horn is critically damped to quell unwanted resonance and encloses a tapered plug at its centre for phase correction.
TR32A and TR32B are of identical geometry, differing only in their material of construction. The former features a horn and phase plug assembly of aluminium, the latter of gunmetal bronze. The TR32B also features 24ct gold plated terminal posts.
It is of the ring radiator design, offering a smooth and extended frequency response, flat to in excess of 20kHz.
Whether the TR unit is used to augment existing Vitavox 2-way systems, or as the HF transducer in self-built multi-way systems, the dedicated Time Traveller physical time alignment module is available as an addition. It provides the stability and indexable adjustment necessary to achieve perfect phase coherence.
